About Jaimee Wacker
Jaimee Wacker is currently a student at Western Washington University and is studying to become a visual journalist. Jaimee dreams of working with other visual artists to make videos and pictures that bring joy and share people’s stories who are usually underrepresented.
She is well versed in Adobe Lightroom, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro as well as a talented writer and interviewer. In her work she hopes to capture events and community issues involving BIPOC groups. Her philosophy when it comes to her journalism work is to understand others stories you must engage in the culture these stories are about. She feels that using her talents to capture the joyful moments in the community helps to bridge the gap among people not a part of these communities, as well as start conversation on what needs to be changed in our society. Her aim is for people in her community to have trust with journalists so that they can use their voices to highlight issues in their community.
In her free time, she likes to engage in community-based work with her university's local Ethnic Student Clubs. For fun, she loves to watch fashion shows and go salsa dancing. She loves to find new ways to connect with people outside her bubble. Jaimee is always looking for new projects to connect with others, if you have a story, photo, or video project that you would like to capture and share, Let's get in touch!
